Pretty Ballerinas

What girl doesn’t like a pair of comfy flats?

Pretty Ballerinas is a Spanish Creation from the Island of Menorca. They practically offer any type of ballerina shoes your brain can come up with.

Confession, I’ve never purchased a pair so I can’t vouch for the quality. Although, by the site of their growth in the US and other areas of the world, I’d assume they are made with quality and style. The prices ranges from 150+ and up.

My only qualm is their website. It isn’t very pleasing to the eye. Hopefully in time, this would be addressed. In the meantime, check out these Brit loving flats. You dig ‘em?

Life on Wheels – Abici Bike

Okay….my future wheels. I’m currently sporting a Raleigh sports bike which is a total lackluster but it does the trick.  It never hurts to dream of my perfect bike, right?

Federica & Co, an amazing lifestyle/interior shop in Madrid announced they would be selling ABICI Italia bikes.  It only set you back about 1.5Gs!  Think about all the gas you will save :)

Teepee for Kids

We can all remember the days we had an indoor fort. This is the Queen Bee.

Since this makes my heart skip a beat, I’m wondering how my little Lucca will react! This could be a very good idea for her 3rd birthday, dontcha think?

If you want to take a stab at making your own teepee, here is a great little blog on how to make a DIY Teepee step-by-step.

Mom, Dad & Toddler with the Perfect Sunday Plan in Madrid

My constant struggle is finding a balance between toddler and adult activities.

Finally, this Sunday my husband and I seem to have mastered the plan. So for all those parents out there that want to keep a bit of your life without sacrificing your child’s fun, here is the plan that seemed to have worked for us in Madrid.

First, we rode our bikes to the Palacio Real Madrid, where we were able to enjoy people watching, the sun and the amazing atmosphere.

The best part, wait for it, why is it perfect plan for the toddler? There is an Parque de Infantil (Kids Park) located to the left of Palacio Real. Our kid was able to roll in the sand, shovel unlimited amounts of sand to make fake cakes, coffee, etc and swing/slide and play with other kids. Mom and Dad (us) could get some talking time, play time with our baby….Its a Win-Win.

After our child started projecting signs of hunger, we rode our bikes through the historic walking route to make our way to La Latina to get lunch at Delic. One of the cities best restaurants for a hip environment and decent cakes.

Cafe Bar DElic

The restaurants located in a Plaza so its pretty secure for the little one to run around. There is also a paper store in the Plaza, so if your toddler is starting to get a bit antsy you can always pop over for some crayons, paper and lollipop for 2.60 Euros. Speaking from experience, this was a life saver.

Lets recap why this is a perfect day – The most important, toddler is always entertained. Mom and Dad are able to spend time with the little one, have conversations, enjoy fun and hip environments and get exercise and icing on the cake visit one of the Top Things To Do in Madrid. Not too shabby, huh? If you have perfect plans, please share.

El Ganso – Spanish Fashion Store

El Ganso is The Goose in English.

The Spaniards tend to dress very tailored and traditional. El Ganso, in my opinion, was very clever. They gave the Spanish their tailored look but with a young and fun twist. My husband who is very traditional yet likes a bit of fun is a big fan of El Ganso. Must say, their shoes are super comfy!

Side note: They seem to be doing great. They have stores all over Spain, one in Lisboa, one in Santiago Chile, and just launched their London store.

Word of the Day: Cerrajería

Cerrajería = locksmith shop

Cerrajero = locksmith

This is a word that you probably want to keep in your mind because more than likely you will be locked out of your apartment at least once. And if you are from the states, it isn’t as easy as climbing through an unlocked window. Unless you are spiderman, not sure how you will climb up the side of the building.

Word of advice, leave a spare key with your doorman, friend, relative, etc. Because Cerrajeros aren’t cheap.

Pastel Pink Toms

Okay, so Toms doesn’t have anything to do with Spain but doesn’t mean I can’t give a shout out to my homage.

But let me see if I can tie Toms and Spain together. Something like a 7 degrees to Kevin Bacon. Pastel Hues are overtaking the Spanish fashion stores. Zara is exploding with Pastel pinks and soft whites. Look at their Pop Fabric Cigarette Trousers. It is one of the hottest Spring 2012 Runway Trends. So there you go, Pastels make the subtle connection.

Can’t wait to receive these precious babies. Counting down the days that they arrive.  And after seeing these pictures, you could understand why. :)

Malaba Bags

One of my favorite accessories are BAGS! Seriously, can’t get enough of them. Although, my sister probably takes the cake on the amount of bags someone owns.

Malaba is not the average accessory store. It has a homey yet designer atmosphere. Usually concrete floors with natural wood displays to showcase their leather goods and designer accessories.

Their current Spring 2012 collection has some creative yet traditional pieces that I’m dying to add to my bag collection.

The Spanish Version of M&Ms

Even the Spanish have an iconic candy! We can all remember our childhood days of making M&M cookies! Choosing between peanuts or plain and sorting through the colors we liked the most; even though they taste exactly the same.

Well, Spaniards have their own version of the M&M called the Lacasitos. Personally, M&Ms are better and I’d like to think this decision resulted from a non-bias process but its hard to tell. In any case, its chocolate so its impossible not to enjoy them!

Do you have a preference?
